Amazon FBA box requirements
For standard-size products Amazon's limits are typically 25 in on any side (36 in for the longest side of some cartons since 2025) and 50 lb per box, with a carton of at least 6 × 4 × 1 in. Each box needs its FBA box label, and pallets must be 40 × 48 in GMA pallets no taller than 72 in and no heavier than 1,500 lb. Amazon changes these rules, so always check Seller Central before you ship.
Box size and weight

| Single item over 50 lb | 'Team lift' marking on the top and sides |

| Jewellery and watches | Lower box weight limit; check the current rule |
These figures summarise Amazon's shipping and routing requirements as published in 2025–2026. Amazon updates them, and some programmes and marketplaces differ: the version in Seller Central is the one that applies.
Labels
- Print a separate FBA box ID label for every carton; do not photocopy or reuse labels.
- Place it on a side of the box, not on a seam or across the flaps, where it can be scanned.
- Remove or cover old barcodes on reused boxes.
- Products need their own FNSKU or manufacturer barcodes as Amazon requires.
Packing the cartons
- Use strong, rigid boxes with intact flaps; 32 ECT single wall suits most loads up to the 50 lb limit (see box strength).
- Fill voids with air pillows, paper or bubble; loose items must not move.
- Keep one SKU per box where possible, or follow Amazon's mixed-SKU rules.
- Do not use banding or strapping on individual cartons, or loose packing peanuts.
Pallet rules (LTL and FTL)
Pallets must be standard 40 × 48 in four-way GMA pallets (see GMA pallet size), in good condition, with cartons not overhanging, stretch-wrapped, and labelled on all four sides. Typical limits are 72 in high including the pallet and 1,500 lb per pallet.
Choosing carton sizes for FBA
A box that tiles a 48 × 40 in pallet and stays under 50 lb saves on both inbound freight and prep. For example 24 × 16 × 12 in cartons fit 3 per layer and 15 per pallet within 72 in.
Plan an FBA pallet24 × 16 × 12 in cartons on a 48 × 40 in pallet, 72 in high.Shipping from overseas to FBA
Sellers importing from Asia usually ship by sea to a US forwarder, who clears customs and books delivery into Amazon. Amazon does not act as importer of record, so the seller or its forwarder must clear the goods. Cartons should already meet FBA rules when they leave the factory; relabelling or repacking in the US costs time and money.
